Meet Our Team

  

Belinda Haebich

Veterinarian (BVSc (hons))

Dr Belinda is a Sydney University graduate but Torquay local. She joined our team in early 2008 and became a director in 2011.  She has impressive general practice skills and a special interest in feline medicine. 

Belinda is the mother of PoPo (pictured) as well as a gorgeous Burmie and two big brown dogs.


Jack Ayerbe

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Not only is he a well-known radio personality, discussing all things pets on 3AW, Bay FM and Pulse FM, he is also the author of "To Ballina and Back".

Jane Miller

Veterinarian (BSc, BVSc (hons))

Dr Jane is a dedicated small animal veterinarian.  She has a genuine love for her patients and their owners.  Jane is the proud mum to Harriet and Will  (human) as well as two little guinnea pigs called Rosie and Robbie.   Whilst Jane and her family lost their last senior dog in early 2019 she is a mad Jack Russell Terrier lover.  Dr Jane was involved in the early pre clinical trials for a new anti cancer drug called EBC 46.  This drug should be available to all dogs in 2020 and will mark a significant career hightlight for Dr Jane.


Katie Stoeckel

Veterinarian (BVSc (hons))

After many years working in a small animal practice in Melbourne, Katie became one of the directors of Newtown Vet Clinic in 2011.  She has quickly become a client (and animal) favourite due to her kind and gentle nature.  Katie has a love and a genuine talent in small animal orthopeadics.  Katie is also mum to beautiful Ella.

 


Vicki Tomes

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Vicki grew up in Geelong but studied in QLD, graduating from the University of Queensland in 2005.

Vicki has worked with horses for most of her career to date.  After becoming a mum to Matilda and Jack, she made the decision to have a ‘career change’ and shift from working with horses to small animals.

Newtown Veterinary Clinic has been lucky to welcome Vicki to the team where she has been loving the challenge of being a small animal veterinarian.

Her pets include Lily the Rhodesian Rideback, Tess the Jack Russell Terrier, Spooky the Cat, and the chooks – Dr Who, Amy and Rose. 

 


Sarah Patullo

Veterinarian (BVSc (hons) MANZCVS (SAS))

Dr Sarah has joined our team and we are thrilled to have a membership qualified surgeon join our team.  She graduated from Melbourne University in 2007 and has worked all around Australia. She is a talented horse rider and the proud owner of 2 dogs, 2 horses and Gary the goat.  Sarah has a special interest in orthopedics but is a great all round veterinarian.


Karisha Splatt

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Dr Karisha is a new addition to our team.  She is pictured here with her beautiful rescue dog Zoe.  Dr Karisha graduated over 10 years ago from the University of Queensland but is now happily settled in Geelong with her family of two and four legged animals (including a goat!).  


Anna Jowett

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in veterinary nursing)

Anna is a very friendly and knowledable nurse.  She runs our "pet slimmers" weight loss program.  If your pooch needs to shape up then give Anna a call.


Amy Keenan

Practice Manager

Amy joined us late in 2018 in the role of Practice Manager.  Although working mainly behind the scenes you may spot her at reception.  Amy's primary role is to keep our practice running smoothly so we can continue to offer excellent veterinary care.  Amy is a friendly hard working women who also happens to be a mother of 4 humans, one dog and two rabbits.   Make sure you say hello to Amy if you spot her in the clinic. 


Karen Pollock

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing. )

Karen is a very important member of our nursing team.  Karen is an excellent veterinary nurse who brings great skills and a big smile to work every day.   She is the owner of Milo the cat (pictured).  Karen is also our dedicated Head of Back of House.  She makes sure everything works like clockwork.  In her spare time Karen can be found doing further study to increase her already impressive skills and knowlege base


Alex Haintz

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV nursing / RVN (Registered Veterinary Nurse))

Alex is an enthusiastic and passionate nurse.  She is very hands on with the patients and the animals.  When not in the clinic she can often be found attending veterinary industry seminars and training days to increase her already impressive knowlege base.  Alex is a fully qualified Veterinary nurse and has recently completed a pathology further education course.  She is the mum to two crazy dogs and a very tolerant cat.  Watch out for her smiling face and helpful "can do" attitude.  Alex has just started a University degree in Veterinary Nursing (a new degree course to Australia!)


Carley Martin

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Carley is back at the clinic and working part time.  She is a wonderful mother to her son Jimi and Eliza.  Carley brings that caring nature into the clinic to help care for the animals.


Alison Shadforth

Receptionist

Alison is Newtown Veterinary Clinics first ever dedicated Receptionist and now we have no idea how we coped without her!  She runs our "ship" like a skillful captain and her warm and engaging personality will ensure you leave our clinic feeling well looked after.  Alison is proud mum to Cleo her beloved cat and a few humans as well.  You will all get to meet the lovely Alison so make sure you stop for a chat.


Catherine Teyssier

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV nursing / RVN (Registered Veterinary Nurse))

Nurse Catherine has been with us since the start of her traineeship.  She is a bright and bubbly personality and will always go our of her way to help you and your pet.  She is the proud mum to a little chihuahua named Bambi and will happily talk to you about your pets and their needs.  We are very proud to say Catherine now holds her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing


Jamie Westworth

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Nurse Jamie has been with us since she did a week of work experience in 2017.  Jamie is passionate about animal welfare and is dedicated to her career in the animal industry.  Softly spoken and always willing help, Jamie is often found on reception waiting to greet you with a friendly smile.  Congratulations to Jamie on achieving her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2018!


Tania Babic

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in veterinary nursing)

Tania has been a veterinary nurse for many years.  She is a wonderful source of information and happy to help answer any animal questions you may have.  She is friendly and always happy to help.  Tania coordinates our Puppy School Program

 


Kate Kirkovski

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in veterinary nursingDiploma in veterinary nursing (Dental))

Kate, pictured here with "Duke", holds her Certificate IV in Veterinary nursing with many years’ experience, including the University of Melbourne Veterinary Hospital.

Kate is also the first Vet Nurse in Victoria to study for her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (Dental) -
