Meet Our Team


Belinda Haebich

Veterinarian (BVSc (hons))

Dr Belinda is a Sydney University graduate but a surfcoast local. She joined our team in early 2008 and became a director in 2011.  She has impressive general practice skills and a special interest in feline medicine & animal behaviour. 

Belinda is the mother of PoPo (pictured) and has an ever-growing mob of animals at home including dogs, sheep & geese.

Jack Ayerbe

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Dr Jack is the founder of the Newtown Veterinary Clinic.  With an impressive Veterinary career, Dr Jack has worked all over the world.  He is a published author, well known radio personality and has been closely involved in the developement of the new anti cancer drug Stelfonta.  

Dr Jack is still available for consultation by appointment. 

Jane Miller

Veterinarian (BSc, BVSc (hons))

Dr Jane is a dedicated small animal veterinarian.  She has a genuine love for her patients and their owners.  Jane is the proud mum to Harriet and Will  (human) as well as Ernie the Jack Russell and two much loved guinea pigs.  Jane has a passion for general consulting and soft tissue surgery including airway surgery in Brachy breeds.  Dr Jane was involved in the early pre clinical trials for a new anti cancer drug called Stelfonta.  This drug should be available to all dogs in 2021 having recevied registration in both the USA and Europe.  

Katie Stoeckel

Veterinarian (BVSc (hons))

After starting her career in mixed rural veterinary practice then worked and travelled overseas. Katie settled down as a small animal vet in Melbourne and became one of the directors of Newtown Vet Clinic in 2012.  

As a GP vet she loves developing relationships with pets and their owners, then seeing them grow and flourish over time. Her interests include surgery and orthopaedics, and helping pet parents to look after their elderly pets. She is passionate about helping to teach and mentor junior staff to thrive in the veterinary industry.
Katie is also mum to beautiful Ella. In any free time she rows as much as possible.


Vicki Groves

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Dr Vicki grew up in Geelong but studied in QLD, graduating from the University of Queensland in 2005.

Vicki is a talented small animal veterinarian with a strong interest in medicine and ultrasonography.  Dr Vicki has a kind and compassionate nature which makes her a favourite with owners and their pets alike.

A mum to Matilda and Jack as well as mulitple four legged creatures and a bee colony!


Karisha Splatt

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Dr Karisha is pictured here with her beautiful rescue dog Zoe.  Dr Karisha graduated over 10 years ago from the University of Queensland but is now happily settled in Geelong with her family of two and four legged animals (including a goat!).  As a mother of three humans, two dogs and a goat, she certainly understands pet ownership.

Dr Kelly Hedrich

Veterinarian (BSc, BVSc (hons))

Dr Kelly graduated in 2006 from the University of Melbourne.  She started her career working in a mixed dairy practice and then worked for 9 years at the Emergency Clinic.

Dr Kelly has 3 children plus the 4 furkids (2 dogs, 2 cats).  Pie is pictured in the photo.

Kelly really enjoys medical cases, emergencies, wildlife and animal behaviour.   With a passion for the outdoors, she spends her free time with her family on the farm, at the beach or camping.  A keen photographer, she is often found taking photos of kids and pets.

Anna Jowett

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in veterinary nursing)

Anna is one of our most long term members of the NVC Nurse Team.  She is a wonderful mentor and teacher to our junior nurses, and works hard behind the scenes to ensure the hospital runs smoothly and our surgical patients receive  the best possible individual care.  Anna is also a talented photographer and takes lots of photos for our "in clinic" puppy training program.  She is also responsible for many of the best photos that appear on our facebook page.

Carley Martin

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Carley is back at the clinic and working part time.  She is a wonderful mother to her son Jimi and Eliza.  Carley brings that caring nature into the clinic to help care for the animals.

Alison Shadforth


Alison is Newtown Veterinary Clinics first ever dedicated Receptionist and now we have no idea how we coped without her!  She runs our "ship" like a skillful captain and her warm and engaging personality will ensure you leave our clinic feeling well looked after.  Alison is proud mum to Cleo her beloved cat, and to her 3 children, as well as devoted Nana to her 2 grandchildren.


Registered Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

My name is Jasmine De Lima, I completed my certificate 4 in vet nursing in 2017. I knew from a very young age that I have always wanted to work with animals! So when I left high school I went straight into completing my Cert 3 in animal studies.  I am now a fully qualified veterinary nurse having completed all my training.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and going to the beach in the summer time. I have a 6 year old greyhound named Emma (Emmy) who loves to be a couch potato all day! 

Jamie Westworth

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Nurse Jamie has been with us since she did a week of work experience in 2017.  Jamie is passionate about animal welfare and is dedicated to her career in the animal industry.  Softly spoken and always willing help, Jamie is often found on reception waiting to greet you with a friendly smile.  Congratulations to Jamie on achieving her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2018!

Micala Kerr

Veterinary Nurse

I have completed a Certificate III in Animal and Companion services. I am an avid traveler and had the incredible opportunity to spend three months in California working as a ranch specialist at a summer camp for disadvantaged youth, inspiring me to return to my studies with the Australian College of Veterinary Nursing (certificate III in Animal Studies - Veterinary Nursing) to further my passion for animal welfare, also a proud fur-mamma to my little girl Koda.


Kate Wallace


Kate joins our team with a customer service background.  Kate is a mother of 3 humans and 1 furry four legged friend called Floyd.  Her bright bubbly and welcoming personality is an asset to the clinic. 


Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Sally is a trainee Veterinary Nurse.  Enrolled to start her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing.  Having completed her cert III as well as working with animals for years, Sally is an excellent addition to our team.  She is bright, bubbly and very helpful. She is seen here with her best mate Buddy.

Heather obtained her training in Veterinary Nursing in the United Kingdom.  Now a full time resident of Geelong, she is pictured here with her dog Niffy.  Heather has a special interest in dentistry and welcomes the opportunity to discuss your pets oral health care needs.

After 3 years of travelling I have settled in Geelong and into my job as a Veterinary nurse.  I love this industry and the people and animals I get to meet.
