  • Cardiac and respiratory diseases

  • Diabetes

  • Pancreatitis

  • High blood pressure

  • Poor coat and skin quality

  • Lower immunity

  • Increased surgical and anesthesia risks

  • Heat stress

  • Cancer

  • Urinary Incontinence

It becomes clear why it is important for you and your pet to be treated professionally for obesity. By managing their weight it will mean less visits to the vet, and a more comfortable and longer life for your animal.

Newtown Vet Clinic in conjunction with Royal Canin Veterinary diets, have designed a free of charge weight management program to enable you to help your pet lose those extra kilos.

During the initial consultation, your pet will be weighed and assessed on their body score and ideal weight range. We will take details on your pet’s current lifestyle and history, and take some ‘before’ photos and measurements. We will also discuss how you can help your pet achieve their goals. The personalised program will outline your pet’s target weight goals, then we will supply you with a plan, which includes a progress tracker, a nutritional plan, and an exercise plan. The plan will be based on your pet’s age, breed, health and individual needs. You will also be asked to visit us fortnightly for free follow up progress visits, which will include a ‘weigh in’ to ensure your pet is on track. This is also a chance to discuss any concerns or queries you may have with one of our trained staff.

When your pet has achieved their goal weight, they will get a little reward for all their hard work, with a “Day at the Spa” Including a free Bath, Brush, Pedicure, and a special certificate to be proud of, just for participating in the program.
