Removal of gun shot A 10 year old Jack Russell terrier called “Spoggy” was presented to the clinic with a suspected gun-shot wound. On examination, a small entry wound was noticed but no exit wound. The leg was extremely painful and the dog was non-weight bearing lame. An x-ray was taken and showed a “slug” lodged in the soft tissue of the leg below the knee. “Spoggy” was anaesthetised and the slug was surgically removed. Happily, Spoggy recovered well post surgery and is now running around again on all four legs. See the photos below of the xray with the lodged slug pellet and the pellet being removed during surgery.
