Queening and Whelping

(What to expect when you're expecting!)

There's nothing more nerve wracking than waiting for that special moment for the first kitten or puppy to arrive. As an owner you feel helpless.  Things are no longer in your control. Questions are running through your head. Have I done the right thing? What do I expect? What do I do if something goes wrong? How can I help my cat or dog have a smooth delivery?

If at any stage you are concerned for the welfare of your bitch or the puppies, feel free to give us a call at the clinic on 52215333. It is also a good Idea to notify us of the expected delivery date just in case a caesar is required.

Leading up to the delivery date it is important to have a warm quiet queening or whelping box set up, away from any noise and distractions. You will find that your cat or dog will spend most of her time in this special place nesting and preparing. As an owner you want to have as much newspaper on hand as possible.

Most bitches tend to whelp on or a round 63 days from mating.
